After-Parties and So Much More!

Ready to after-party your pants off? Yes? Good, because our after-parties have a bit of a reputation. And we think it’s well-deserved. How many times have you partied until the early morning on a hundred-year-old steamboat? Not too many, eh?

The beautiful and historic Belle of Louisville will open its gangway to our patrons on both Friday and Saturday nights and bring the opportunity to keep the party going long after festival gates close.

This year we present the after-party to top all others. Following their festival performances on Saturday, July 14, members of My Morning Jacket will make a special appearance as Preservation Hall Jazz Band graces the stage at an all-ages event on the historic Belle of Louisville, presented by Bell’s Brewery. This intimate setting will offer an experience unlike any other, a first hand chance to enjoy a truly once-in-this-lifetime event. Tickets are $50.00 plus applicable fees with a portion of the ticket price donated to the Center for Women and Families.

And be sure to start your weekend off with a bang when Consequence of Sound presents the Official Forecastle Kickoff party, featuring indie pop duo Dean & Britta and electronic upstarts Purity Ring. The event will take place on Thursday, July 12 at Club 116, located at 116 E. Main Street in Louisville. Tickets are handsomely-prices at $22.00 plus applicable fees for this 21+ event.

Tickets for both shows will go on sale Saturday, May 19 at noon at www.forecastlefest.com.

There are still more after-parties to be announced, so stay tuned! You won’t want to miss ‘em.

More artist additions!

Forecastle is pleased to announce more additions to this year’s lineup!

Reggae standouts Rebelution had the highest debut of their relatively young career this year with Peace of Mind. The massive triple album debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, reaching #1 on the Reggae and Independent charts. They’ll bring the funk and provide all you Forecastle faithful with a serious dose of rocksteady.

Singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn is a master of the clawhammer banjo and pairs traditional folk elements with far-flung Eastern sounds. The results feel both strangely familiar yet unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. She’ll be performing with long time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Kai Welch at Forecastle 2012.

Trixie Whitley combines heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics with towering vocals on her emotionally-charged songs. In 2011, as a member of producer Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub, she captivated audiences worldwide and is currently finishing up her solo debut. Don’t miss your chance to see her on the shores of Waterfront Park.

Headliners of our presenting CoSigns SXSW party, Cloud Nothings join the lineup along with Lower Dens who recently dropped their new album, Nootropics. While Grimes will no longer be joining us due to a scheduling conflict, Kelly Hogan, Keys N Krates and Cherub will be in attendance making some glorious noise!

We’re thrilled about our new additions and that we’ll be seeing them in just over two months! Even more additions coming soon, including after-parties, kick-off event and oh so much more! So stay tuned!
