How can I submit my film to The Forecastle Festival?

What kinds of films do the accept?

We are accept work on a rolling, year-round basis in the following categories:

Environmental Activism: Environmental activism from as a social movement, historic or modern focus, with perspective from a local, regional, or global scope.

Biosphere / Habitats: Ecologically unique habitats, flora and fauna present, environmental studies and discoveries thereof. Likewise, the people and organizations working to protect them from pollution and development.

Conservation / Sustainability: The setting aside of natural resources to prevent damage caused by development or by certain human activities, such as logging, mining, hunting, and fishing.

Renewable / Alternative Energy: Renewable and alternative energy and technology, along with the individuals and businesses working to introduce them to the marketplace (or spread awareness).

Marine / Coastal Ecosystems: Emphasis on ecologically important marine / coastal environments, and the wildlife that inhabit them.

Adventure / Extreme Sports: Outdoor adventure and action sports in extreme, outdoor environments across the globe.

Who is involved with the film component of the festival?

Both Patagonia Footwear and 1% for the Planet have sponsored in the past.

What formats do you accept?

Films should be submitted in standard DVD-R/DVD+R disc. If your film is accepted into the Festival, we will contact you regarding the formats we accept for projection.

What should I include with my submission?

Contact Info. We will require a press kit if you’re film is accepted. In order to publicize your film we will need your press kit within one week after notification. The press kit should be digital and include any production still photos, artwork, photo of the director, a biography/filmography of the director, producer and writer. Please include any fliers, posters, and press clippings you might have.

How many films can I submit?

Up to (3) per $10 submission fee.

When will I find out if my film was selected?

If you are selected, you will notified no later than (12) weeks before the festival.

What will I recieve if I am accepted?

If you are selected, you will recieve credentials to the event plus all related pre-events, as well as a honorarium (varies year-to-year, check back for details).
